Pictured above are Lalo Alcaraz and myself at Cypress Park Branch Library in LA for the ¡Ban This! event we held last year, aptly titled, An Evening of Mass Education. The show was a huge success and brought many of the book’s authors together for one evening of amazing Chicanismo, art and literature.
BSP publisher/author and friend of the library, Santino J. Rivera, is making another trip west to Los Angeles in April for an event titled: “Fear and Loathing in Los Angeles: Spoken Word, Music and Arte for the next Revolution.
An all-star assembly of artists and poets will be displaying and reading their work with a live band providing some revolutionary tunes in the vein of The Last Poets. This event kicks off on April 24th from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Cypress Park Branch Library in Los Angeles.
Fear and Loathing will take us back to the tension of the early 90′s where many of us were just finding our voice to speak out against the oppression at hand. That time is upon us again as the powers that be try and silence any resistance from coast to coast while they continue to rewrite history and keep the masses ignorant.
“What better place than here? What better time than now…? All hell can’t stop us now!” – RAtM
You are not gonna want to miss this show! This is an event designed to bring awareness and positive energy of resistance to the community and to the nation.
Face your fear! Loathe your enemy! Educate your mind!
